KADEM supports increase in representation rate of women candidates in decision making mechanisms. Therefore, a campaign was carried out in demanding positive discrimination against women candidates before the oncoming elections on June 7, 2015.

On April 5, with cooperation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey-KAGİDER and Turkish Businesswomen Association-TİKAD, an advert with title “We Are Supporting Women Candidates” was put in the national newspapers with high level circulation Sabah, Akşam, Yeni Şafak, Yeni Akit, Hürriyet, Milliyet, Habertürk, Vatan and Güneş. In the advert, it was stated that increase in representation rate of women candidates in The Grand National Assembly of Turkey is a necessary condition for democratic societies. With enhancement of women candidates in the parliament, voice of women is going to be heard more. In this way, it was emphasized that where there are women, democracy will be built on firm ground.

This campaign was maintained throughout the day with various endeavours. At the middle of the day, as Women and Democracy Association, we underlined that we want to see more women in the parliament, so representation rate of women should reached and also exceed the critical step of 33 %.

At last stage of the campaign, KADEM launched a hashtag performance on social media. This operation has attracted warm interest and the hashtag “#ilkadaykadınaday (firstcandidatewomancandidate)” has moved up until line 6.

Before the oncoming elections on June 7, 2015 in Turkey, political parties put forward a list of candidates on April 5-7, 2015. As a result of this campaign, when it is taken a look to the lists of candidates of political parties, it can be seen that there are many women candidates being in the front ranks.
