THE IDEA OF W-20 ARISED IN 2014

W-20 come to the fore for the first time in G-20 Summit in Australia in 2014, but it could not be put into practice. Ali Babacan proposed it again for the agenda in B-20 meeting held in Turkey last year. W-20 proposal which took form around the question “what can we do in order to enhance women’s effectiveness in business life” paved the way for implementation of the proposal in Turkey.

W-20 includes the objectives of putting women’s status in business life on the agenda, mentioning injustice and inequality based on gender in participation in business life, enhancing the number of women in labour force and eliminating wage differential between women and men based on gender. Besides, encouraging women entrepreneurship, ensuring women have leadership positions in public sphere and business life and a number of socio-economic issues like political, educational and health are also items of the agenda of W-20.
