2nd Gender Justice Congress: Women and Poverty

The KADEM (Women and Democracy Association) is a civil society organization that places gender justice at its core, embraces diversity as enriching for women and democracy, and advocates for equal rights, opportunities, and resources for women and men. KADEM aims to increase women’s political, social, and economic representation through democratic mechanisms. Its mission is to foster a shared societal awareness on women’s rights and equal opportunities and to contribute to strengthening democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and respect for fundamental freedoms.

KADEM publishes the nationally peer-reviewed KADEM Journal of Women’s Studies, featuring multidisciplinary scientific articles from various social science perspectives on women’s studies.

In line with its objectives, KADEM organized the 2nd Gender Justice Congress: Women and Poverty on March 3, 2016, in Istanbul, under the auspices of the KADEM Journal of Women’s Studies. The congress aimed to foster new research on women, consolidate existing studies, address gaps in the literature, and highlight the issue of women and poverty within the framework of gender justice.

The congress provided a platform to examine women’s position in social, academic, political, economic life. By sharing papers and experiences, it facilitated interdisciplinary discussions on global poverty, offered opportunities to discuss new solutions, faciliated discussions on policies at national and international levels, and contributed to developing practical approaches to addressing poverty.
