3rd Gender Justice Congress: Women and Family

On March 7, 2017, KADEM organized the 3rd International Gender Justice Congress: Women and Family at Istanbul Ticaret University’s Sütlüce Conference Hall. Participants included KADEM Founder, Assoc. Prof. Dr. E. Sare Aydın Yılmaz, the Chair of the KADEM Board of Trustees Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar, board members, Istanbul Ticaret University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazım Ekren, and numerous local and international scholars.
Opening speeches were delivered by KADEM Founder and Director of the Istanbul Ticaret University Women and Family Research and Application Center, Assoc. Prof. Dr. E. Sare Aydın Yılmaz, and Rector Prof. Dr. Nazım Ekren. The opening panel featured Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tekin (Congress Steering Committee Chair), Sociologist-Author Nazife Şişman, Prof. Dr. Farid Sufian bin Shuaib, and Prof. Dr. Sefa Saygılı.

These sessions aimed to provide diverse perspectives on women’s position in social, academic, political, and economic life in Türkiye, within the framework of gender justice.
The papers presented at the congress provided an interdisciplinary platform for analyzing and supporting the family institution, exchanging ideas at a global level, discussing new approaches to contemporary challenges faced by women and families, and evaluating policies at both national and international levels.
