How the theme was chosen
Pointing out that we have started to rapidly become digitalised in all fields due to the Covid 19 pandemic, KADEM Chairman of the Board Dr. Saliha Okur Gümrükçüoğlu said that they identified ‘Remaining Human in the Digital Age’ as this year’s summit’s main theme in order to take a closer look at the psychological and sociological impacts of the technologies we are using, and the innovations that are right beside us, and to offer a roadmap on this issue.
Gümrükçüoğlu, who stressed that, at this year’s summit, as in the past, the structure of the family will be examined, and digitalisation’s impact on the structure of the family will be discussed, said:
“We will ascertain three main questions at our summit: The first question will be, ‘how can we make sure that the digital world serves humanity?’ ‘We will also seek answers to the questions, ‘how will the new praxes of social life shape the future in the digital age?’ and ‘what must we do to preserve our moral values and cultural texture in the digital age?’
Wo Will Speak?
After the opening ceremony, the summit will begin with a keynote speech to be delivered by Prof. Dr. Nabi Avcı, former MP for Eskişehir, and author of the book “Enformatik Cehalet” (Informatic Ignorance), entitled ‘Humans Grow in the Shade of Humans’. A total of 30 speakers will speak at the summit that will last three days, where the impacts of the digital world on the community, the family, daily life, and our moral values will be examined. Within the scope of the summit that will include inspiring and stimulating speeches in addition to a session consisting of 6 panels, many subjects will be discussed from how humans will continue to be the actor of the digital world, to parenting in the digital world, how knowledge will be reached in this age, and how we will be able to control our behaviour. About the Woman and Justice Summit
The Woman and Justice Summit, the first of which was organised in 2014, is organised once every two years with a different theme. The first year, the main theme of the summit was the concept of justice itself, which reflects KADEM’s approach to women’s issues, and which it defends. In 2016, sessions were held under the theme of ‘Speak Up for Justice’ in many different areas, particularly in the context of immigrant women and women’s role in peace processes. In 2018, the summit organised with the theme ‘Reinforcing the Family’ concentrated on the family, which is the building block of society.
